Forever Home Rehoming Pet
This is Moonlight, my lost marley lab ❤
I was lucky enough to be able to bring her home from Sandy and Western’s Bewitching Halloween Hextravaganza in late 2019 :-) I’m very glad I joined this rehoming not just because of Moonlight, but because of the social aspect. I’ve been around for quite a while, and while I tend to stick to myself which is my own thing, I made a couple of really good friends through this rehoming and got to chat a lot with other active members that I see around. That was a really great experience, and because of this, I’ll definitely be doing more rehomings in the future, maybe even holding one of my own :-)
I think the marley lab is quite a special breed on FooPets. Having different animations than any other foo/pokey dogs, this breed has an especially obvious personality to me. From sliding on their butts when they bring you the ball, to looking timidly around the edge of their scene, this pup never fails to make me say “Aww.” This Marley Lab personality can light up any day :-)
Moonlight is not my first Marley, however, she is the first one I’ve owned in a while. I love the breed, it just seems that I’m extra picky about my marleys, lol. This pup is a bit shy and easy to spook, but when she lets her walls down she’s an extremely playful pup, nearly impossible to tire out completely.
Her name in the rehoming was already Moonlight; I added the “Goodnight” to the beginning. I like for my pets to have two names, except my lost/exact pets. Soon after meeting Moonlight, she reminded me of a poem my favorite professor had shown to me. Upon expanding that idea, a more complete picture took place in my head for her scene/profile “theme” when I brought her home :-)
This is the poem that she reminded me of. The original is in Japanese (shown to the right).
After darkness falls,
A stealthy worm burrows
Into a moonlit chestnut.
I knew then that as I was making her profile in the future, I’d have to include the piece I wrote based on this poem as a clickable mp3 (can be found at the top above her stats, next to the previous/next pet links). My professor gave this haiku to me as a project, in which I had to read the poem, compose a short cello ensemble or solo piece based off of it, something shorter than one minute, and email him that completed sheet music. Oh yeah, and I had to do it all within 24 hours, lol. I loved this experiment he did with me (there were two other poems as well that we did this with). It gave an interesting perspective on different forms of art with the same kind of energy, as if we’re trying to understand a concept from as many angles as we can. What does this have to do with my FooPets? Well, I’ve come to realize that my pets are like little works of art, once I get their scenes and profiles done up nicely to reflect a certain idea. This comparison makes a lot of sense to me, as everything I do has to do with art in some way or another :-)
My idea for calling her Goodnight Moonlight came after thinking through what I said just above. Additionally, the kids book, Goodnight Moon, fits with a lullaby theme. She’s just a puppy too, under 6 months old, so I have a clear picture of tucking her into her pet bed for sleeps and reading Goodnight Moon :-)
Around this time last year, I was driving just short of two hours to visit my boyfriend once a week, if not more often than that. Most of the time, I wouldn’t be able to leave my apartment until night time after rehearsal. By the time I drove all the way there, it was already time to sleep. I missed him tremendously, though, so it was always worth it for us to make the trip even if just to say goodnight. The Japanese haiku tells of a Goodnight, as well. It gives a sort of energy like a young kid being tucked in and read to as he’s going to sleep. This is the same energy I tried to recreate in Chestnut: a goodnight lullaby or ritual for a loved one. Moonlight shares a bit of that nice, loving energy, and I think naming her something like Goodnight Moonlight is quite fitting :-)
As I said before, her Marley Lab personality can light up any day, and she certainly did that with me. When October really got going, I felt like I was falling behind in… well, life. I’ve graduated, but until I take my teaching test, I can’t do student teaching or get a job in my field. I tried for over a month to acquire students for cello lessons, but none of them got back to me. I’ve been running low on money and really needing a job. I even had to drain my savings to make rent and pay my bills on time. On top of that, I was having difficulty eating again and with my brain being dysfunctional for whatever reason I’m having difficulty housekeeping and cooking. And after all of that weighing me down all day, my FooPets really lifted me up. Sometimes I wouldn’t even check the rehoming thread, I’d just go straight to Moonlight’s profile and throw her the ball a few times. My pictures only work about 25% of the time, but even just throwing her the ball and giving her head scratches cheered me up enough to get ready to tackle the next day as best as I could. And I guess I did, because it’s a month later and I have a job, I’m getting less anxious about my test, I’m gathering and looking over my study materials, and I’m back in a more stable place. I’m really glad I’ve been so active on foo, and I’m glad I got to see this little Marley pup after all those long days.~
This song was one of my favorites in high school. It still holds a special place in my heart. The title is Goodnight Moon, like this here pup’s name :-) The artist is a band called Go Radio, who are no longer together. This was one of their most popular songs. The lyrics share the same idea as what I’ve mentioned before: trying to stay up and enjoy time with someone you love when it’s getting to be time to go to sleep.
Following the Go Radio song, I figure this is a good time to mention her partner. I like to have little boyfriends/girlfriends for my pets or little adopted families within my home. For example, my pokey huskies and Mae. Libra and Julien are brothers, and Mae is Libra’s partner. Moonlight’s partner is Henry (name pending) and he is a lost Weimeraner. He is currently reserved to give me some more time to get more FD, since I went broke splurging on items for my beloved FooBabies. I picture Henry and Moonlight as a young couple, like two pre-teens who don’t really “date” yet but have crushes on one another and maybe hold hands on the playground. Henry should be home by November 16th at the latest :-)
Moon’s Godparents are listed below. They are the other members in the tops for Sandy and Western’s rehoming. If Moonlight ever needed to be rehomed, these 3 would be contacted first – and of course I’d message y’all too, Western and Sandy xD. I know that, if not me, these other users would be a lovely home for Moonlight<3

Thank you, so much, Sandy-D and Western_Puppy for all the time and effort you put into this rehoming. It’s members like you guys, who do things like this, that is the reason Foo is still active. Being selfless and donating time and money to this over 1 month long rehoming really makes such a huge difference in this site, and I hope you guys know that. I try to do little similar things, like gifting someone an item they’re looking for. Or sending someone a pet link for less than they offered so that they have some extra FD for another pet or a scene. Or coding a full profile for someone’s pet because they said mine were nice, and teaching them how to edit the code and use it for all of their pets. I can’t exactly afford to get a handful of rare pets to rehome, though that’s going to change as soon as I get big lucky on the PP ;-) But anyways, thank you again, for keeping this place fun. <3 ~~
